Boys Lacrosse in the State Finals!

As the school year is coming to a end the only team left in the division three state tournament is Boys Lacrosse.  They are going to play in the finals on Wednesday June 13, 2012.  They are going to play North Reading at Harvard stadium.  The game is to start at 3:30 pm. Last season the raiders dominated over north reading in the semifinal round 19-6.  Although North Reading is seeded number two in the state and they carry a record of 19-1. Other sports at DS are celebrating their great seasons with the end of season banquet.  Boys Tennis finished the season with a record of 16-7.  Girl’s tennis finished with and overall wining record of 11-6.  Baseball was 16-7 while the softball team finished 9-14.  Girls Lacrosse had a strong season with a record of 9-8-3; while sailing finished in fifth place at the Mass Bay League.  Chandler Wood and Dan Carol competed at the division four state meet, and finished 16th and 21st respectively. The fall sports teams are very busy planning informational meeting for the upcoming seniors.  All of the teams are looking forward to what next season will bring.  All of the student athletes here at DS are looking forward to some relaxation before they start to train for the fall sports.  Good Luck to the Boys Lacrosse team when they compete on Wednesday against North Reading and Go Raiders!

Tournament season 6/4/12

The raiders have been on fire so far during this tournament season! Boy’s baseball beat Martha’s Vineyard 2-1 on June 3rd during the first round of tournament games. Softball defeated 1st seeded West Bridgewater   8-3.  They will move on to Greater New Bedford on June 4th.  Boy’s lacrosse beat Swampscott 13-1 during their first round tournament game.  Their next game is against Medway on June 4th.  Both girl’s tennis and girl’s lacrosse have been eliminated form the tournament bracket.  Girl’s tennis lost to Norwell 3-2, while girls Lacrosse lost to Hopkinton 15-7 on Tuesday May 29th.  Boy’s tennis will continue on to the next round due to their 5-0 win against John Pope II.  Plans are underway for the new turf field that is said to be started as soon as school is out.  Boosters have raised the one million dollars that is needed to start phase 1.  The plans also state that phase I which includes minor improvements to the track, re-grading one of the booster fields, along with replacing the grass stadium with turf.  An article from the Dover-Sherborn patch states that phase one should be completed by the fall sports season.  Phase 2 and 3 are said to have the tennis courts move along with the creation of two more courts, which with be a total of 6 courts.  The plans also have the restoration and transportation of the Farm Street fields to multipurpose fields.  The Farms Street field will also receive minor improvements to the nests and other equipment.  All of the student’s athletes here at DS are very excited for the new athletic fields, and can’t wait to use them in the fall!

End of Spring Season

The spring season for the raiders is comming to a close.  Most of the DS teams are involved in tourdment.  Boys lacross had a strong season with a reccord of 15-3, their last game is on May 23 at 6:45 at Franklin.  Girls lacross had a reccord of 8-6-3, the last game for the girls is against Medfeild at home.  Baseball had a good season as well their reccord is 13-6.  The  last game for the baseball team is on May 23 at Westwood.  Softball was so lucky this year with a reccord of 6-13, the last game for softball is also May 23 at Westwood.  Boy's tennis was a strong sport this year for DS with a reccord of 12-4. Girl's tennis has a reccord of  8-3.  Both girls and boy's tennis last match is May 25 against Medfeild.  Girl's and boy's track had a reccord of 3-6 this year.  The division 4 meet will be held on May 26 at North Reding High School.  The sailing team had a reccord of 8-4.  State Championships for sailing will be held at MIT on May 23.  The raiders have a strong spring sports season.  The Best of luck to all of the teams going into tourdment!

Raiders Sports Week of 5/7/12

As the weather becomes warmer the Raiders spring sports are in full swing. This week the Dover-Sherborn sports teams have been on fire!  Baseball beat Norton, 3-1, on Monday, May 7.  Softball unfortunately lost to Norton 8-7 on Monday as well.  Boys and Girls lacrosse played Hopkinton this week.  The Boys beat Hopkinton 16-6, while the girls tied 9-9.  Boys’ tennis won against Norton 5-0.  The girls followed their lead with by beating Medway 4-1.  Sailing won against Notre Dame 4-0.    Girls track beat Bellingham, 104-32.  Boys track won as well with a score of 114-22.  There are many upcoming events for all of the sports teams at DS, best of luck to all the teams!
