Boys Lacrosse in the State Finals!

As the school year is coming to a end the only team left in the division three state tournament is Boys Lacrosse.  They are going to play in the finals on Wednesday June 13, 2012.  They are going to play North Reading at Harvard stadium.  The game is to start at 3:30 pm. Last season the raiders dominated over north reading in the semifinal round 19-6.  Although North Reading is seeded number two in the state and they carry a record of 19-1. Other sports at DS are celebrating their great seasons with the end of season banquet.  Boys Tennis finished the season with a record of 16-7.  Girl’s tennis finished with and overall wining record of 11-6.  Baseball was 16-7 while the softball team finished 9-14.  Girls Lacrosse had a strong season with a record of 9-8-3; while sailing finished in fifth place at the Mass Bay League.  Chandler Wood and Dan Carol competed at the division four state meet, and finished 16th and 21st respectively. The fall sports teams are very busy planning informational meeting for the upcoming seniors.  All of the teams are looking forward to what next season will bring.  All of the student athletes here at DS are looking forward to some relaxation before they start to train for the fall sports.  Good Luck to the Boys Lacrosse team when they compete on Wednesday against North Reading and Go Raiders!

Tournament season 6/4/12

The raiders have been on fire so far during this tournament season! Boy’s baseball beat Martha’s Vineyard 2-1 on June 3rd during the first round of tournament games. Softball defeated 1st seeded West Bridgewater   8-3.  They will move on to Greater New Bedford on June 4th.  Boy’s lacrosse beat Swampscott 13-1 during their first round tournament game.  Their next game is against Medway on June 4th.  Both girl’s tennis and girl’s lacrosse have been eliminated form the tournament bracket.  Girl’s tennis lost to Norwell 3-2, while girls Lacrosse lost to Hopkinton 15-7 on Tuesday May 29th.  Boy’s tennis will continue on to the next round due to their 5-0 win against John Pope II.  Plans are underway for the new turf field that is said to be started as soon as school is out.  Boosters have raised the one million dollars that is needed to start phase 1.  The plans also state that phase I which includes minor improvements to the track, re-grading one of the booster fields, along with replacing the grass stadium with turf.  An article from the Dover-Sherborn patch states that phase one should be completed by the fall sports season.  Phase 2 and 3 are said to have the tennis courts move along with the creation of two more courts, which with be a total of 6 courts.  The plans also have the restoration and transportation of the Farm Street fields to multipurpose fields.  The Farms Street field will also receive minor improvements to the nests and other equipment.  All of the student’s athletes here at DS are very excited for the new athletic fields, and can’t wait to use them in the fall!
